AMD Helios rackscale solutions are installed and running at Meta, marking the broadest expansion yet of a partnership that now spans CPUs, GPUs, networking, systems, and software across Meta's AI infrastructure1.
AMD disclosed on October 27 that Helios will power Meta's frontier AI models and services, that AMD EPYC processors serve as the compute engine behind Meta's Muse AI agent, and that AMD technologies provide Day-0 support for Meta models including Muse Spark Open and Muse Glimmer.
Custom silicon and roadmap alignment
The partnership extends well beyond current deployments. Meta was an early definition customer for the AMD Instinct MI450 architecture, and Meta will deploy a custom AMD Instinct GPU optimized for its workloads. The two companies are collaborating on future generations, including Verano. AMD and Meta have aligned product roadmaps and engineering decisions around current and future Meta workloads.
Meta has deployed millions of AMD EPYC processors across multiple generations and is a lead customer for 6th Gen AMD EPYC CPUs. AMD Instinct GPUs are currently used in production inside Meta's infrastructure for training, ranking, and recommendation engines.
Software stack and model support
The companies have expanded their software collaboration to large-scale AI training, optimizing recommendation models on AMD Instinct MI350X GPUs and contributing improvements to PyTorch, Triton, and ROCm. AMD and Meta have worked together to advance ROCm through PyTorch so developers can use AMD GPUs without additional configuration. AMD also delivered Day-0 support for Muse Glimmer on AMD Ryzen AI PCs and AMD Radeon GPUs.
Lisa Su, chair and CEO of AMD, said the companies are "building and deploying infrastructure at gigawatt scale and shaping future generations of silicon, software and systems to enable Meta's most ambitious superintelligence models and services".
Financing context
AMD will invest $1 billion in Meta's equity offering. That offering, disclosed separately, could raise up to $95 billion to finance Meta's AI infrastructure expansion, beginning with a $35 billion underwritten public offering of common and convertible preferred stock[2].
ANALYSIS The custom-GPU commitment and joint roadmap alignment give AMD a structural foothold inside one of the largest AI infrastructure buildouts underway, moving the relationship beyond commodity procurement into co-designed silicon.
