Kodiak AI driverless truck runs 64 straight days without restart

Kodiak AI's autonomous truck ran 64 days straight without restart in the Permian Basin, with five more trucks topping 45 days of continuous uptime.

A driverless truck equipped with Kodiak AI's autonomous driving system ran for 64 consecutive days without powering off or restarting, setting a new uptime record for the company's unsupervised commercial fleet1.

The truck operated continuously in the Permian Basin from June 30 through September 1, 2026, remaining available for service throughout the period. Five additional trucks equipped with Kodiak Driver each surpassed 45 consecutive days of continuous uptime.

As of June 30, 2026, the trucks were part of Atlas Energy Solutions' fleet of 35 driverless trucks in the Permian Basin, which had surpassed 40,000 cumulative hours of paid driverless operation. The trucks run Kodiak's sixth-generation (Gen6) autonomous platform. Kodiak AI has committed to expanding the Atlas Energy Solutions fleet to 100 trucks by mid-2027.

Beyond the industrial fleet, Kodiak AI plans a driverless highway launch on Interstate 45 between Dallas and Houston by the end of 2026. The company unveiled its seventh-generation system, Gen 7, earlier this summer, which Kodiak said is designed to deliver nearly 50 percent longer operational lifetimes than its predecessor.

ANALYSIS The 64-day continuous run and the five trucks exceeding 45 days each demonstrate sustained reliability under real commercial workloads rather than controlled test conditions, a distinction that matters as Kodiak AI moves from industrial haul routes to highway freight.
