Microsoft announced on October 28 that it is making the Copilot harness, a multi-model orchestration layer built by GitHub engineers and adopted company-wide, available through Microsoft Foundry1. The harness already powers Copilot Code, Copilot Studio, the GitHub Copilot app, the CLI, and VS Code. Through Foundry, developers and enterprise customers gain a fully managed way to build agents that reason, use tools, and complete long-running tasks across 20-plus frontier models. Microsoft stated the runtime was recently ported to Rust, yielding reductions in session overhead and time-to-first token.
