Nvidia Commits $250M in Compute to UK Agentic Safety Over Five Years

Nvidia Corp. CEO Jensen Huang, speaking in Paris on October 13, 2026, said the chipmaker will announce $2 billion in new European AI deals within a week, on top of $8 billion he said Nvidia invested in the continent over the past year3,4. The pledges bring Nvidia Corp.'s stated European commitment to nearly $10 billion6.

The first tranche names four French startups receiving planned minority stakes: healthcare platform Doctolib, robotics developer Genesis AI, materials-discovery firm Entalpic, and business-planning software maker Pigment2. Nvidia Corp. did not disclose the size of any individual investment; French newspaper Les Echos reported they are minority stakes. The investments follow Nvidia Corp.'s agreement to acquire France-founded Hugging Face in a deal valued at roughly $12.9 billion.

Four French targets

Doctolib, founded in 2013 by Stanislas Niox-Chateau, says 100 million patients and 580,000 health professionals use its services. The company said the Nvidia Corp. investment will fund AI hiring and provide access to Nvidia Corp. experts to train models in Europe. Genesis AI, based in Paris and Palo Alto, emerged from stealth in July 2025 with a $105 million seed round co-led by Eclipse Ventures and Khosla Ventures. Pigment provides AI-powered business planning software, and Entalpic uses AI to develop advanced materials.

"[These investments] launch the artificial intelligence revolution in Europe," Huang said at a reception at Place Vendôme attended by French Economy Minister Roland Lescure. "Europe needs to get in the race," he added, arguing that AI could drive economic growth and be developed safely. He rejected calls to slow AI development amid concerns over systems operating beyond human control and the environmental impact of energy-intensive data centers.

UK compute for agentic safety

Separately, Nvidia Corp. disclosed a five-year, $250 million compute donation to support U.K. agentic safety and security research1. A proportion of the commitment will support SOFAIR (Science of Fundamental AI Research Lab) at UCL, BOLD at the University of Oxford, and Imperial College London. The investment also supports the wider U.K. research community and is part of a broader push to back enterprises and startups deploying Nvidia Corp.'s full stack across industries.

Nvidia Corp. has previously invested in French startups including Alice&Bob, Gradium, and Scintil Photonics. EU-based AI firms drew $15.8 billion in venture capital in 2025, representing 6% of the global AI total. Huang's European tour continues to London and Berlin, with a live keynote scheduled at Berlin's Tempodrom on October 21 during GTC Berlin, running October 20–22.
