Snowflake announced the public preview of Cortex Training, a serverless platform for customizing and deploying open-weight large language models1. The offering supports supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning with full-parameter or LoRA training, along with OpenAI-compatible inference endpoints backed by dedicated GPUs. Snowflake reported that in its benchmarks, Cortex Training is up to 61% lower cost than competing serverless training APIs, including Tinker. Usage is billed by GPU time, with faster training translating directly into lower costs.
