Tesla added 150 Cybercabs to the Texas automated-vehicle registry in a single batch, lifting the purpose-built robotaxi's count on the state's books from 169 to 3192. The update, visible on the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles public lookup on Thursday evening, brought Tesla's total authorized robotaxi fleet in Texas to 739 vehicles, up from 589 earlier this month.
Every new entry is a 2026 Tesla Cybercab, the two-seat vehicle with no steering wheel or pedals. The Model Y count on the roster held steady at 420. Cybercabs now represent more than 43 percent of Tesla's Texas fleet, up from under 29 percent before the addition.
The registry operates under Texas Senate Bill 2807, which requires any company running driverless vehicles commercially to hold state authorization. That requirement became enforceable on May 28, 2026, according to the Texas DMV. Tesla Robotaxi, LLC received its authorization on May 14.
The first Cybercabs appeared on the Texas roster on August 31, days before Tesla opened Cybercab rides to the public in Austin.
ANALYSIS The Cybercab's share of Tesla's Texas fleet crossing 43 percent marks a shift in the roster's composition toward the dedicated robotaxi hardware and away from the retrofitted Model Y.
