Unitree Robotics launched the G1+, an upgraded version of its G1 humanoid robot, priced at 95,000 yuan (roughly $14,000) for the base model including tax1,3. The original G1 starts at 85,000 yuan. The G1+ was officially launched on Monday.
The robot carries six categories of upgrades spanning motion performance, perception and interaction, and what Unitree calls intelligent experience.
Motor and thermal overhaul
The most consequential hardware change is a full motor redesign. Peak torque on the shoulder and waist drives is up 110%, while heat generated under the same load drops 72%. Arm motors gain 43% more torque with 30% less heat, and leg motors run 28% cooler. The thermal improvements matter for sustained operation: the G1+ carries a 9,000 mAh hot-swappable battery rated for roughly two hours of active use and supports continuous external power charging for extended runtime.
A new two-degree-of-freedom neck gives the robot head tilt ranging from -25° to +36° and rotation of ±110°. The addition means the robot no longer needs to rotate its torso to look sideways. Total degrees of freedom for the standard configuration reach 25.
Sensors and connectivity
The G1+ head houses five sensors, including a binocular camera, a wide-angle camera, and a 3D LiDAR, plus an additional belly-mounted camera. Audio hardware includes a six-microphone array with direction-finding, noise cancellation, and echo suppression, paired with two 10W speakers. Connectivity covers Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, and the robot supports over-the-air software updates.
The robot weighs approximately 35 kg with battery and can carry up to 3 kg per arm.
EDU variant and market position
Beyond the standard model, Unitree offers a G1+ EDU variant with 70 degrees of freedom and seven-DOF hands capable of complex manipulation. Unitree delivered more than 5,500 G1 units in 2025, compared with a reported 150 deliveries for Tesla's humanoid.
A Pemba variant of the Unitree humanoid climbed the 6,200-metre Chimborazo volcano in June 2026, and a Unitree humanoid hit 46 km/h and jumped two metres from a standing start in August.
ANALYSIS The G1+ addresses two persistent weaknesses in low-cost humanoids: motor overheating during sustained tasks and limited head articulation. The thermal gains, if they hold under real-world loads, extend the practical duty cycle beyond what raw battery capacity alone would suggest.
