Xiaomi founder Lei Jun disclosed on November 4 that the company's CyberOne 02 humanoid robot completed 8 hours and 5 minutes of continuous work in the final assembly workshop of the Xiaomi Auto Factory, sequencing center-console side panels4. The company frames the trial as preliminary validation of production-line-grade operational capability.
A video posted by Xiaomi on November 3, during the 2026 World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, showed two full-size humanoid robots pulling side covers from bins, carrying them to storage racks, and placing them into slots3,5. The footage carried a running clock and an "Autonomous, 100x Speed" label. Xiaomi said the robots covered the full day of production needs at that workstation.
What the video does not show
Xiaomi has not disclosed parts-handling throughput, human intervention rates, or how the robots manage battery power during extended operations. One aggregator noted that the initial disclosure did not confirm the robot completed the full operation1, though Lei Jun's November 4 statement put the duration at 8 hours and 5 minutes. The footage included accelerated playback at speeds of up to 100 times, limiting independent verification of real-time performance.
The model behind the robot
The factory work runs on Xiaomi-Robotics-1, an embodied foundation model released in July that uses an end-to-end VLA architecture and a two-stage training paradigm. The model was pretrained using 100,000 hours of real-operation trajectories. In July, Xiaomi-Robotics-1 ranked first on the RoboCasa 365 and RoboDojo leaderboards. Xiaomi says the model outperforms prior baselines across multiple simulation and few-shot tests.
Beyond the factory, Xiaomi began trial operations for a home system based on Xiaomi-Robotics-1 at Xiaomi youth apartments. The system completed more than 50 tasks across three rooms in a sequence lasting more than 30 minutes.
ANALYSIS The missing throughput and intervention-rate data leave the central question unanswered: whether CyberOne 02's eight-hour run represents a step toward replacing human labor at that workstation or remains a controlled demonstration with undisclosed human support. The gap between Xiaomi's framing and the metrics it withheld will determine how the trial is received by manufacturers evaluating humanoid deployments.
