GXO Logistics and Agility Robotics on October 26, 2026, announced an expansion of their partnership that will place Agility's Digit humanoid robots at two additional U.S. logistics sites, in Statesville, North Carolina, and Lebanon, Tennessee, for e-commerce fulfillment work1,2. Deployments are expected to begin in early 2027 using Digit 4 and will migrate to Digit 5 once that model becomes commercially available.
From pilot to production volume
The expansion builds on a relationship that started with a proof-of-concept pilot at GXO's Flowery Branch, Georgia, facility in late 2023. The companies formalized the arrangement in a multi-year Robots-as-a-Service agreement in June 2024, which they described as the industry's first formal commercial deployment of humanoid robots in live operations and the first RaaS agreement for humanoids. Since that 2024 deployment, Digit has moved more than 100,000 totes at the Georgia site, handling repetitive material-handling tasks such as moving totes and placing them onto conveyors.
Across all commercial operations and customer programs, Agility Robotics said Digit has accumulated more than 65,000 hours of real-world operation. At the new sites, Digit will take on what the companies called highly repetitive material-handling tasks tied to e-commerce fulfillment.
GXO Logistics chief executive Patrick Kelleher said the expansion reflects confidence that the technology can deliver measurable value for customers and improve the working environment for employees. Agility Robotics chief executive Peggy Johnson said customers have moved past asking whether humanoid robots can work and are now deciding where to scale them.
Commercial momentum ahead of Nasdaq listing
The GXO deal is the second customer expansion Agility Robotics has disclosed in recent days. On October 20, 2026, AGCO signed a commercial agreement to deploy Digit at its Hesston, Kansas, production facility, with a pilot also expected in 2027[2]. On October 22, 2026, Agility named Nvidia as the exclusive supplier of onboard compute for the general-availability version of Digit 5, standardizing the platform on Nvidia's IGX Thor modules[1].
ANALYSIS The cadence of announcements — two new customer deployments and a sole-source compute deal within a single week — coincides with Agility Robotics' approach to its planned Nasdaq listing, giving the company a string of commercial proof points ahead of that milestone.
GXO Logistics says it is the world's largest pure-play contract logistics provider, with more than 150,000 team members across more than 1,000 facilities totaling more than 200 million square feet. Under the original 2024 agreement, GXO deployed Digit together with Agility Arc, Agility's cloud platform for managing robot fleets and integrating them into customer operations.
