Nscale, Anthropic negotiate second $45B compute deal at West Virginia campus

Nscale is in talks to sell Anthropic about $45 billion in computing power from a second building at its West Virginia campus using Nvidia Vera Rubin chips.

Nscale is in talks to sell Anthropic roughly $45 billion in AI cloud computing power, a second contract of that scale between the two companies in two months1,2,3.

The proposed agreement covers a second building at Nscale's Monarch Compute Campus in West Virginia, delivering approximately 460 megawatts of computing power running on Nvidia's next-generation Vera Rubin chips. Bloomberg reported the talks on October 19, citing people familiar with the negotiations; a person familiar with the matter separately confirmed the discussions to Reuters. A deal could be finalized within days, though terms could still change. Representatives for both companies declined to comment.

The negotiations follow a six-year agreement struck in August for about 460 megawatts at the same campus, also valued at roughly $45 billion, with Vera Rubin systems scheduled to begin coming online in late 2027. Anthropic also holds a right of first refusal on the campus's expected third building.

Nscale, which is backed by Nvidia, filed for a U.S. initial public offering on September 18, seeking a New York Stock Exchange listing under the ticker NSCL. ANALYSIS A second $45 billion commitment from a single customer would add to Nscale's already substantial backlog from Anthropic, concentrating revenue exposure ahead of the planned listing.
