OpenAI will make its AI models and Codex coding tool available on Google Cloud in the coming weeks, putting the company's technology on all three major US cloud platforms1,2.
The rollout will give Google Cloud customers access to OpenAI's frontier models and Codex through Google Cloud's model garden and the AntiGravity coding tool. Developers inside the Google ecosystem will no longer need a separate route to use OpenAI's products.
The expansion follows a similar move on Amazon Web Services, where OpenAI's models became available through Amazon Bedrock on April 28, 2026. Microsoft Azure has long served as OpenAI's home base. With Google Cloud added, OpenAI now covers AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
The Google deal is notable because Google is a direct AI rival to OpenAI. For years, OpenAI leaned heavily on an exclusive relationship with Microsoft for its cloud needs. Diversification became necessary as usage surged and OpenAI needed more computing capacity than any single partner could supply. The Google relationship started on the infrastructure side.
ANALYSIS Distributing across all three hyperscalers removes a friction point for enterprise buyers locked into Google Cloud contracts, broadening OpenAI's addressable market without requiring customers to migrate infrastructure.
