Pony.ai announced that its cumulative autonomous-driving distance worldwide has surpassed 100 million kilometers, a milestone the company frames as marking its shift from technology validation toward mass production and scaled commercial deployment1,2.

The company's robotaxi fleet exceeded 1,700 vehicles by May, and Pony.ai has raised its year-end fleet target to more than 3,500 vehicles. Robotaxi revenue surged nearly 400% year over year in the first quarter of 2026. Pony.ai said it achieved unit-economics breakeven in Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

More broadly, Pony.ai said autonomous-driving hardware costs have fallen 60% to 70% over the past two years, aided by economies of scale. The bill-of-materials cost of the autonomous-driving kit for its seventh-generation robotaxi has fallen 70% from the previous generation.

Pony.ai aims to operate in 20 cities worldwide, with nearly half of those cities overseas. The company plans to develop an international version of its seventh-generation robotaxi tailored to different regulatory requirements and infrastructure, supporting deployment of more than 1,000 vehicles in overseas markets. Pony.ai launched commercial robotaxi services in Zagreb, Croatia on April 8.

The milestone arrives as Chinese autonomous-driving companies accelerate international expansion. On August 3, WeRide announced a partnership with Danish shared-mobility platform GreenMobility to deploy autonomous ride-hailing services in Denmark, subject to regulatory approval. WeRide said its autonomous-driving products are deployed in more than 40 cities across 12 countries, and it operates a global L4 fleet of more than 3,000 vehicles. WeRide holds autonomous-driving permits in eight markets. On July 17, MOGOX announced a strategic partnership with Singapore-based ComfortDelGro Bus for autonomous-vehicle deployment and operations, commercial expansion, and coordination with regulators.
