The Government of Ras Al Khaimah and Ubtech Robotics signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding on October 19 to test, demonstrate, and deploy humanoid robotic systems across industrial, commercial service, elderly care, and cultural tourism scenarios in the emirate1,2.
Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, witnessed the signing in Shenzhen. The agreement was signed by Alma Au Yeung, Greater China Affairs Advisor at the Office of the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, and Claudia Chen, Overseas Sales Director of Ubtech Robotics. The ceremony marked the start of a week-long official visit across South China focused on bilateral ties in technology, investment, innovation, and trade.
Under the MoU, Ubtech Robotics will deploy its humanoid robots and specialized engineering teams directly into Ras Al Khaimah to launch live demonstration projects. Initial applications will test humanoid systems in automated industrial assembly, intelligent public-facing services, AI-assisted elder care, and cultural spaces. Ras Al Khaimah will provide a live testing sandbox and progressive regulatory frameworks for the trials.
The partnership will also explore launching a dedicated Ras Al Khaimah Humanoid Robotics Climate Research Initiative, using the emirate as a platform to develop high-end technologies for the broader Gulf region.
Ubtech Robotics, established in Shenzhen in 2012 and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, has been accelerating commercial deployments. Earlier in October, the company formalized a strategic cooperation agreement with FAW-Volkswagen to develop embodied-intelligence robots for factory logistics and build demonstration sites at the automaker's plants[1]. Prior Vector Wire coverage noted that Chinese humanoid manufacturers have been shipping units into real-world settings while some Western competitors' commercial timelines remain further out[2].
ANALYSIS The Ras Al Khaimah deal extends Ubtech Robotics' deployment map from Chinese automotive factories into a Gulf-state government partnership spanning multiple sectors, from elder care to tourism. The climate-research component adds an environmental-testing dimension absent from the company's disclosed automotive work.
