Wandercraft has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance for Eve, a personal self-balancing exoskeleton designed for eligible adults living with spinal cord injuries at any level1,2. The company describes Eve as the first FDA-cleared self-balancing personal exoskeleton, opening what it calls a new category of self-balancing robotics for people with severe mobility disabilities.
Eve is designed to enable eligible users who can operate its remote to walk and perform activities of daily living hands-free, supporting upright mobility in everyday settings. The device was validated through a three-site clinical trial led by the James J. Peters Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Kessler Foundation, and Walk in New York. The clinical program demonstrated that participants with spinal cord injuries and their companions could learn to operate Eve and complete activities relevant to personal use. Participants reported improvements in health status, psychological well-being, endurance during daily activities, lower-limb spasticity, and sitting balance.
Wandercraft plans to commercially launch Eve in the United States on September 17, 2026. The company is advancing Eve within an established Medicare reimbursement pathway; Medicare has provided a reimbursement pathway for eligible personal exoskeleton users since 2024 under billing code K1007. Wandercraft anticipates that Eve could become eligible for Medicare reimbursement within 60 to 90 days.
On the distribution side, National Seating & Mobility will serve as Wandercraft's exclusive complex rehabilitation technology distribution partner for Eve. USVetServ will serve as an authorized independent distributor of Eve and Atalante X for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and other VA facilities nationwide. Good Shepherd Rehabilitation will serve as the exclusive Eve partner in Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley.
