Waymo has begun offering fully autonomous rides to and from Harry Reid International Airport, expanding its Las Vegas robotaxi footprint roughly three months after launching driverless service in the city1.
Pickups and drop-offs take place at designated autonomous vehicle zones on the ground level of Terminals 1 and 32. Riders can travel between the airport and any destination within Waymo's 24-square-mile Las Vegas service area, which includes major resort corridors and downtown. Both Waymo and airport officials said the footprint will continue to scale over time.
The airport addition follows Waymo's recent deals to become the official ride-hailing partner of the Las Vegas Raiders and Allegiant Stadium. Waymo already serves airports in Phoenix (Sky Harbor) and San Francisco (SFO) and operates commercially in Phoenix, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
James C. Chrisley, Clark County's director of aviation, said the airport serves millions of passengers annually and that welcoming Waymo is a step toward giving travelers more choices. Arica Gately, Waymo's head of airport business development and partnerships, called the service a seamless option for travelers catching a flight or heading into the city.
Waymo says its data shows more than 95 percent fewer serious-injury crashes than human drivers in the same environments, and its driverless vehicles have logged more than 270 million miles. The company operates a commercial fleet of fully autonomous, driverless electric vehicles hailed through a smartphone app.
The Las Vegas airport launch comes amid a busy stretch for Waymo. The company recently disclosed plans to begin testing autonomous vehicles in Madrid ahead of a 2027 commercial robotaxi launch in Spain[2]. Separately, a Waymo robotaxi in Tampa briefly entered a lane with oncoming traffic near a Tampa Bay Buccaneers game on October 4, 2026, forcing passengers to exit on foot[3]. Competitor Tesla said on October 22, 2026, that it intends to expand its Cybercab autonomous taxi service in Dallas next month and to begin selling Cybercabs to fleet operators before year-end[1].
